How Finders Contact You
When someone finds your lost item and scans your U2ME™ Code, they are directed to a secure page where they can contact you directly. We do not automatically send you notifications when your code is scanned. Instead, finders initiate contact through:
- Text message to your registered phone number
- Email to your registered email address
Your personal information is protected—finders only see the contact options you've chosen to display, not your actual phone number or email address until they choose to reach out.
SMS, Voice & Third-Party Contact Notifications
U2ME™ uses automated SMS text messages and voice calls to support lost-item recovery. This section describes how we handle messaging for both account holders and the contacts they designate.
Your own notifications: When you opt in during the order process, you consent to receive automated SMS text messages and voice calls from U2ME™ regarding lost-and-found notifications for your account and registered items. Messages and calls are sent only in connection with lost-item recovery events.
- Message types: Item recovery alerts, scan notifications, and return coordination messages via SMS and voice call
- Message frequency: Frequency varies based on scan and recovery activity
- Opt-out: Reply STOP to any SMS message to unsubscribe. You will receive a one-time confirmation and no further messages will be sent
- Help: Reply HELP for assistance or visit getu2me.com/contact
- Costs: Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier
- Carriers: Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages
Contacting your designated contacts: U2ME™ may contact emergency or recovery contacts you provide via SMS text message and voice call for lost-item recovery purposes only. By submitting contact information, you represent that you have obtained consent from each contact for U2ME™ to reach them in this way. Contact outreach is strictly limited to recovery events associated with your registered items and will never be used for marketing or promotional purposes.
Consent record: When you opt in, we record the timestamp, consent language version, and method of consent. This record is retained in connection with your order for compliance purposes. Consent is not required to complete your purchase.
Information Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With Finders: When someone scans your U2ME™ Code, they see limited contact options you've chosen to display
- Service Providers: We use trusted third parties including Stripe (payments), Firebase (data storage and hosting), and Twilio (SMS and voice delivery) to operate our services. These providers receive only the information necessary to perform their functions and may not use it for other purposes
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase with encryption at rest and in transit.
